Investor Services
The EBTC believes that technologies and practices
related to clean water, renewable energy, and better materials and
industrial processes hold some of the greatest promise. However,
the Center is practical, and looks for opportunities that make good
economic sense first while also providing environmental advantages.
New Opportunities
The EBTC serves as a gathering place for new opportunities and
one of our goals is to share these opportunities with the investment
and business community. The Center looks for the best opportunities
and as a public institution they are in a unique position to be
objective about their quality. The EBTC’s database of environmentally
proactive technology companies is used by hundreds of potential
customers and investors.
The Center analyzes markets characterized by rapid technological
improvement, declining costs, rising demand and significant growth
rates. They then employ a technical and business assessment process
to identify companies that have the potential positive returns.
Elements of this analysis include:
- Reviewing company documents;
- Examining independent news sources;
- Meeting with corporate management;
- Conducting site visits; and
- Contacting regulatory agencies and environmental organizations.
Networking Events
Because partnering and investing in environmentally advantageous
technologies and companies is a specialized pursuit, the EBTC holds
a variety of events designed to satisfy the needs of the investment
community and potential business partners. The Center also maintains
a vast referral network.
Assessment and Due Diligence
The specialized nature of clean water, energy, materials, and
process technologies can make it difficult to pick and choose wisely
among the available opportunities. Critical assessment by the EBTC
provides information about the nature of the opportunity presented;
the business and technical attributes of the company that warrant
further consideration; and the recommended course of action.
Where companies have received a positive assessment, the EBTC’s
due diligence will provide independent verification of the critical
facts the investor will use to render a funding decision.
Management Assistance
The EBTC provides management assistance on those areas of the
company that need to be developed or strengthened in order to make
the company more qualified for investment, or to make sure that
the investment is wisely used. The center covers business strategy,
personnel infrastructure; preparation of the business plan and financial
information; building strategic partnerships; validation of target
markets; testing of product claims, investor presentation preparation;
and regulatory hurdles.
